October 1 is the date many have been waiting for.

That’s the date the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and Ruscio Construction sign the deal that will officially complete the purchase of the former Sault Area Hospital property.

City council passed a bylaw on Monday that permits the completion of the property sale.

Mayor Matthew Shoemaker said while it was hoped that the sale of the property would be resolved quickly, that didn’t come to fruition.

However, he noted, the 10-month waiting period that crosses the T’s and dot the I’s, came much quicker than results with the property’s former owner Italo Ferrari, general manager of Leisure Meadows Community Living Inc.
