ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — Unicoi County leaders heard about progress from the county's long-term recovery group on Monday, nearly one year after Hurricane Helene struck and brought devastating flooding to the area.

The group said its goal is to make sure nobody gets left behind, even a year later. The organization aims to ensure everyone has their needs met and knows who to contact for resources. Its representatives provided an update on the group's efforts at a Monday commission meeting.

Also on Monday night, Unicoi County Mayor Garland "Bubba" Evely told News Channel 11 that the county has several projects at the forefront of its mind at the one-year post-Helene mark.
