FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A child who heard fire alarms going off at his home in Fresno alerted an adult to help get everyone out after a fire had broken out Monday evening, the fire department said.
Firefighters responded to a fire just after 4:45 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Laureen Avenue in Fresno.
The first fire engine reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the house. Fresno Fire says that everyone exited the house safely. One person was being evaluated for smoke inhalation.
Five children and five adults live in the house. Fresno Fire says it's uncertain if they will be displaced.
According to Fresno Fire, a child heard the smoke alarms first and got help from an adult to get everybody out of the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
