SAN ANTONIO — Officials say one person is dead after a possible barricaded subject situation in a blazing home on the northwest side.

Not much is confirmed at the moment, but at first SAFD said that there was a barricaded subject in a home in the 3700 block of Chartwell. The situation started around 7:30 p.m. Monday night. Around 8:15 p.m., SAFD said that there was light smoke showing.

KENS 5 then sent a crew to the scene where they caught the fire continue to spread around a home as time went on.

Around 9:45 p.m., SAFD says that the fire grew to a point where they had to fight it defensively. After the fire was knocked down, one person was found dead inside.

It's unclear if the deceased actually barricaded himself in the home, according to officials in a later news conference.
