The Scottsboro Police Department is seeing significant results from new license plate reader technology. Officials said three solar-powered Flock Safety cameras, installed last November, have already led to multiple arrests—most recently helping them track down a man accused of stealing a vehicle from a Tennessee dealership.

Jesse Ferrell was arrested on September 18 in Woodville after police say he took a 2015 red Volkswagen Passat from a Tennessee dealership on a test drive and never returned it. The car was later flagged by one of Scottsboro's Flock cameras, located on Highway 72, prompting a rapid response from police.

"Once the vehicle displaying that tag passed our license plate reading camera—it ran the tag, ran it through NCIC," said Coty Durham with the Scottsboro Police Departm
