KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A security alert was sent out to students and staff at KU Medical Center Monday night following a bomb threat.

Officers with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department responded to the incident just after 6:30 p.m. to help KU Medical police following a bomb threat call.

KU officers tell KCKPD that someone arrived to the entrance of the ER with what was told to police to be an explosive device.

KCKPD set a perimeter and the bomb unit was called to the scene. The device was determined not to be explosive.

Police say at this time there is no danger to the public.

The investigation is ongoing.
