BEAUMONT, Texas — Dozens of Ward One residents filled the Lakeside Event Center on Tuesday evening to hear directly from city leaders about Beaumont’s upcoming $264 million bond election.
The open house was one of several the city is hosting ahead of the November vote, with boards lining the walls to explain the five propositions on the ballot. Residents said they wanted to understand exactly what they would be funding if they approve the bond.
“I wanted to get information about the different bond issues,” said resident Shamieka Dotson. “I believe in voting, but I want to know what I’m voting for.”
