POLK COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) -- Deputies arrested a Rutherford County man for multiple charges involving lewd acts with a teen.

Officials with Polk County Middle School alerted law enforcement that 32-year-old Randy Wayne Whitener Jr. had inappropriately contacted a 13-year-old through social media.

After an investigation, Whitener was initially arrested on September 10 for the following charges: • Solicitation of child by computer or certain other electronic devices to commit an unlawful sex act. • Taking indecent liberties with children. • Dissemination to minors under the age of 16 years

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Whitener posted $36,000 bond and was released the same day.
