LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Some lawmakers on Capitol Hill want to exempt coffee from President Donald Trump's tariffs, and one Louisville coffee shop hopes the proposed legislation passes to provide the business relief.
It comes as roasted coffee prices at American grocery stores have gone up 21 percent from a year ago, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Brew & Sip has been absorbing the extra costs to avoid its customers paying more, but that may not last much longer.
"We probably will raise our prices at year five, so probably in like two weeks," co-owner LaToya Bradley told WHAS11.
