A state regulatory body kicked off a lengthy hearing Monday on a proposed clean fuel program that would create a system of credits to incentivize the development and use of less carbon-intensive fuels.
The Environmental Improvement Board opened a hearing as part of the New Mexico Environment Department's rule-making process to enact the Clean Transportation Fuel Standards, which the Legislature adopted in 2024.
The hearing is scheduled to continue through Oct. 3 and then resume Nov. 17 and continue as "long as required to hear all testimony, evidence and public comment," according to a public notice.
