Despite a shorter schedule and corresponding lower attendance than years prior, the 2025 Charleston Sternwheel Regatta had a $40.1 million economic impact, according to city officials — the highest since the event's return in 2022.
Now, that doesn't mean the city or local businesses took in $40.1 million in net revenue. Rather, the figure reflects the effect attendee spending had on local businesses and the local population. It's still a huge plus for the city of Charleston, its businesses and its residents.
The economic impact from the 2024 Regatta was estimated at $38.8 million, so this year's numbers don't reflect a giant leap, but it's encouraging to see numbers go up, considering the festival was shorter.
