JENISON, Mich. — People living in Georgetown Township say they've paid hundreds more for water since the summer, due to a 55% rate hike.

The township says it had to raise these rates in response to increases from the City of Wyoming, which is where the township gets the water.

Residents who spoke at the meeting say something still needs to be done to bring their bills down.

"The average quarter to water and sewer bill for a family of four is $209.25, my bill, and it's a family of two, my wife and I, is $983," said one resident.

Several others in Georgetown Township have seen their water bills increase dramatically and took to Monday night’s Township Board Meeting to express their concerns.
