LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Las Vegas Metro police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash near the north end of the Strip.

The crash took place shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday after officers responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of 6th Street and Sahara Avenue.

Police told 8 News Now that officers learned that the driver of an SUV traveling west on Sahara Avenue "disregarded the red light and collided with a southbound vehicle in the intersection."

The impact caused the crash to cross over into the median on Sahara Avenue, "striking several vehicles stopped at the eastbound red light," all of whom reported minor injuries, according to police.

Impairment is suspected in the incident, police told 8 News Now.

Westbound Sahara was closed at 6th Street on Monday evening.
