ARMADA – Neither Armada or Richmond will win the Blue Water Area Conference title this season. That will be either Imlay City or Yale.

Still, when the two neighboring rivals square off on the pitch, there is nothing sweeter than a victory over your closest foe.

Armada picked up that sweet rivalry victory Monday night, tripping up visiting Richmond, 1-0.

Scott Barnett scored the game’s lone goal in the first half, courtesy of an Owen Quinn helper to move the Tigers (7-6-1, 4-4-1) to their fourth straight win and into fifth place in the eight-school BWAC.

Armada has outscored the opposition 19-1 with three shutouts in its last four games.
