MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Police are warning the public about an increase in scams targeting older adults, often involving cash and gold bars.
The FBI says it has identified 15 victims in New Hampshire who lost more than $4 million to scammers between 2023 and 2025.
Officials believe the actual losses are likely higher, as many victims are ashamed, don't know where to report it, or may not even realize they have been scammed.
Scams can take many forms, including scammers posing as a loved one in trouble who needs money immediately, or as law enforcement or government officials threatening arrest, authorities said.
