BARTONVILLE ( 25News Now ) - Enhanced security measures are being put in place, including metal detectors, at Limestone County High School in Bartonville after a student was arrested Monday for bringing a weapon to school.

In what was described on the school’s website as a “serious safety incident,” Superintendent Keith Brown said administrators received a report of a weapon in the building about 1 p.m., and they immediately called Bartonville Police.

Within minutes, the student was found with a weapon and taken into custody. The type of weapon was not described.

Brown said the school was placed on “hold” status during the investigation.
