A potentially historic class is brewing in Columbia, Missouri.

Missouri basketball coach Dennis Gates and his staff, as of Monday, Sept. 22, have pieced together the nation’s current No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle.

And the Tigers might not be finished on the trail.

Mizzou jumped ahead of Florida State , where Gates was a longtime assistant, to the top spot in 247Sports’ composite recruiting rankings on Sunday evening when four-star wing Aidan Chronister announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Chronister, a Fayetteville, Arkansas, native with good positional size and a well-regarded ability from 3-point range, joins top-10-overall shooting guard Jason Crowe Jr. and fellow five-star Tony Bryant , a power forward out of Florida, in the Tigers’ 2026 class. Looking f
