New statistics from Social Security Scotland show that at the end of July, some 484,055 people were receiving Adult Disability Payments (ADP), the devolved benefit that has replaced all new and existing claims for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) north of the border. ‌

The data also shows that the largest group of claimants are aged between 55 to 64, making up just over a quarter (28%) of the caseload. Those aged 65 and over made up the second largest age group, with a fifth (20%) of the caseload while people aged 16 to 24 made up the smallest proportion of the caseload, at around 7 per cent. ‌

The average time to process a new claim for ADP is now 46 working days, just over nine weeks. ‌
