EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - It’s finally fall which means it’s time for all of the fun festivities of the season including the opening of local pumpkin patches.

Madrac Farms in Effingham County is preparing for its first weekend of the season but not without a few challenges.

The owners, staff and volunteers at Madrac Farms in Rincon are putting the finishing touches on their festive features this week including the pumpkin patch and other fall themed activities.

But no matter how hard they try, their corn maze will look a little lackluster on opening weekend.

Melissa Regan, the owner of Madrac Farms, says, “the only reason the corn looks like it does right now is because we’ve spent about $3,000 on hoses and sprinklers and timers and things like that to get it to where it’s at.”
