Triathlon competitors are set to swim, run and bike across Wrightsville Beach for yet another year of the YMCA Wrightsville Beach Sprint Triathlon.
The race, originally called the Pepsi YMCA Triathlon, has been happening since 1979. This year will mark the triathlon's 45th anniversary.
The triathlon will take place on the morning of Sept. 27 and will include four separate events: individual, relay, aquabike and youth triathlon.
There are two separate courses for the event: a sprint course — which comprises the individual, relay and aquabike events — and a youth course.
The triathlon will necessitate road closures across Wrightsville Beach and the surrounding areas.
