Former Hickory football standout Brady Stober returned to North Carolina Saturday to face the Western Carolina University Catamounts.

Stober plays for Samford but didn't see action on Saturday. He is playing behind senior QB Quincy Crittendon. Crittendon leads the Southern Conference with 993 yards passing in four games.

Stober has seen some quality reps already this season, though. On Aug. 28 against West Georgia, he completed 10-of-15 passes for 93 yards. The next week, he ran for 29 yards and threw for 38 against The Citadel.

Samford lost both of those games. The Bulldogs are 0-4 on the season after falling to WCU 50-35.

Stober has completed 17-of-30 passes for 151 yards this season and rushed for an additional 67 yards on 12 carries. He also has thrown two interceptions
