The N.C. Senate cleared along party lines Monday legislation that would prohibit the use of state Medicaid funds at Planned Parenthood facilities.
The Senate's revamped version of House Bill 192 was approved by a 29-20 vote.
The bill also represents a modified attempt at enhancing pricing transparency from hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers.
"It is our duty to ensure that your hard-earned tax dollars are spent thoughtfully and do not support partisan actors like Planned Parenthood," Senate Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, said after Senate's passage of HB192.
It is not clear how quickly the bill will be heard in the House during the second extra legislative session that ends Thursday. The bill was placed in the gatekeeper House Rules and Operations committee.
