The Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority has announced the placement of two new naloxone boxes.
The boxes, funded by a grant from the Opioid Prevention and Education Network, provide free naloxone to the public, according to a community announcement.
Naloxone, also known as Narcan, can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose. The boxes will be located at Mike’s Pharmacy, 133 E. Main St. in Morenci, and The Thrifty Hippie, 203 W. Main St. in Hudson.
“These naloxone boxes are a vital addition to our community's harm reduction efforts," Executive Director Kathryn Szewczuk wrote in the announcement. "This initiative, supported by the generous grant from OPEN, ensures that more people have access to this lifesaving tool exactly when they need it."
