Edinburgh’s Northern Bowling Club staged three internal club finals as the competitive season wound down.

These included Ally Mitchell winning his first singles title in the form of the Porterfield Trophy with a 21-20 over Scott Blair. Ahead 11-6 early, Ally then found himself 11-19 behind before the tie went to 20-20 and a final end showdown.

Ally also reached the Two Bowl Singles final but lost 21-16 to Laurence Robertson after the tied had been squared at 16-16.

Finally the internal Pairs final produced a victory Gordon Wilson Jnr and Euan Craig who defeated Callum Anderson and Sean Wilton 20-13 meaning Gordon now has a choice to make in terms of next year’s Scottish Championships – singles or doubles?

He’s eligible for both as Champion – but can only do one.
