The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is warning people claiming Universal Credit to report a change in their living arrangements using their online account to avoid any potential overpayment, which they would need to pay back.
This is particularly important for single claimants who either move in with a partner, or have them move into their home as this directly affects the type of Universal Credit they should be claiming. Only single people can claim the single person’s allowance, while married people and those cohabiting need to claim as a couple.
