September 22 marks the official calendar start of fall. Though Louisiana isn't exactly known for frosty chills and bright orange leaves, we can all still look forward to cooler temperatures and an eventual break from the humidity.
As one of the U.S.'s southernmost states, true autumn arrives in Louisiana much later and only for a short period of time, thanks to the area's subtropical climate. And changing leaves, the hallmark of fall, typically aren't visible until mid-October to November.
According to the LSU AgCenter, autumn colors can vary year to year based on temperature and moisture. Climate scientists at NOAA's Center for Weather and Climate Prediction have so far predicted above-average temperatures for the 2025 fall season, along
