President Trump and federal health officials said this week that women should limit acetaminophen use during pregnancy because of a possible link to an increased risk of autism. But acetaminophen, which is also known as paracetamol and sold under the brand name Tylenol, has been considered the only safe over-the-counter treatment for pain or fever during pregnancy, and going without treatment can be dangerous for both a fetus and a pregnant person.
