A new era is upon Auburn basketball.

Bruce Pearl has officially retired after 11 years in charge of the program, and Steven Pearl, his son and associate head coach, will take over. It’s the move that many expected, and it didn’t take long for Auburn to act.

The press releases from Auburn officially announcing Bruce Pearl’s retirement and Steven Pearl’s promotion were sent exactly 32 minutes apart.

No hot boards, no drawn-out coaching search, no interim tag: Auburn was ready to name Bruce Pearl’s successor immediately.
