(KIMT) -- After record-breaking rainfall in some locations Monday, hefty amounts of ground moisture combined with light north winds overnight have allowed for VERY dense fog to form for the Tuesday morning commute.

Rainfall amounts reached over three inches in Rochester while several locations observed over two inches. Rochester more than doubled the previous rainfall record of 1.57" set back in 2010.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in place for those east of I-35 in SE Minnesota through 9 AM Tuesday. Our I-35 counties will remain under the advisory through 10 AM as fog will take a little longer to lift in those spots.
