TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Governor Kathy Hochul visited the Town of Tonawanda Police Department on Monday, highlighting more than $19 million in state funding that’s modernizing police technology across Western New York.

The Governor toured the department and watched demonstrations of new equipment purchased through state law enforcement technology grants. That includes a 3D scanner to document crime and crash scenes, a virtual reality training system, and updated communications gear.

The Tonawanda Police Department received about $734,000 in funding. Statewide, $127 million was distributed to 378 departments and sheriff’s offices.
