The United Democratic Front (UDF) has extended its best wishes to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader Peter Mutharika, who is currently leading in the presidential race.

Speaking during a press conference in Lilongwe today, UDF Press Secretary Labana Chilungo outlined the party’s position following the September 16 election.

Chilungo urged Mutharika to honour all the promises he has made to Malawians once he assumes office.

He also stated that if the UDF is satisfied with the promises and commitments made by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), the party is ready to work hand in hand with the DPP in the interest of national development.

The UDF becomes another long-standing political party to concede even as the Malawi Electoral Commission is still finalizing the vote count.
