A "brilliant" community effort saw over £5000 raised in a hair-raising charity challenge in memory of a Burnside dad.
Big-hearted funeral arranger Kate Stewart helped turn a client's pain into something positive when she shaved her head to raise fund for Brain Tumour Research earlier this month.
Kate pledged to take on the fundraising challenge as a tribute to Robbie Gibson who passed away in May, aged just 41, after being first diagnosed with a brain tumour back in 2021.
His grieving widow Lesleyanne was picking up her husband's ashes from the town’s Scott Munn & Co Funeral Directors, where Kate works, when the fundraiser came about after the two ladies got talking about the work that the charity does.
