We may have seen the hottest summer on record this year, but those long hot days are far behind us now. In fact, the Met Office has predicted that temperatures in Scotland are to reach 'below freezing' tonight, Tuesday, September 23.
While many of us are to see a dry day today, save for Orkney and Shetland, temperatures are descending below average for this time of year. And rural areas are to see the chilliest conditions today and overnight.
Alex Burkill, Met Office Meteorologist said: "Do you have your thick coat out yet? There's a bit of a nip in the air again, similar to yesterday morning, a touch of frost in a few places, and even a few pockets of mist and fog.
