Circumstances surrounding child's death in Orange County under investigaiton

An investigation is underway after a child transported from an Orange County home Monday night was later pronounced dead.

Emergency responders were called to the home on the 200 block of South Main Street near Old Town Placentia around 9 p.m.

The child and a woman in the home were taken by ambulance in critical condition to a local hospital, freelance media firm O.C. Hawk reported.

Police later confirmed the incident had turned into a child death investigation.

Video showed a man at the home getting into a patrol vehicle following the incident, but his role in the investigation was unclear.

Crime scene tape and multiple patrol vehicles were still blocking an alleyway near the residence at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
