The co-creators and hosts of MTV’s “Catfish: The TV show” have confirmed the popular reality series has been canceled. In a social media post issued Monday night, Nev Schulman and Max Joseph announced the series has come to an end after nine seasons.
However, the hosts are leaving the door open for a possible return.
“‘Catfish’ has officially been canceled,” Schulman revealed before adding, “‘Catfish as we’ve known it is over, which is sad, but at the same time, what an incredible journey it’s been.”
The show premiered in 2012 following the success of Schulman’s 2010 documentary of the same name. Over the course of the show’s nine seasons, nearly 300 episodes aired, involving people from all across the U.S.
