The Karen Read case took yet another unexpected turn on Monday, as the attorneys defending her against a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of John O'Keefe said they plan to sue Massachusetts State Police and several people who testified against her at her two criminal trials for violating her civil rights .
They named Detective Lt. Brian Tully, Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik, former Trooper Michael Proctor, Brian and Nicole Albert, Matthew and Jennifer McCabe, Brian Higgins and the Town of Canton and the Canton Police Department among those they plan to file suit against.

This further complicates what was already a messy situation and promises to lengthen the civil proceedings substantially.
