Yoane Wissa is expected to return from injury next month as he does not need an operation on the knee problem he is suffering with.

After a prolonged pursuit over the summer, Newcastle eventually snapped up Wissa from Brentford in a £55m deal.

Along with Nick Woltemade, he has been brought in to replace the goals lost by selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, but he is yet to get on the field for the Magpies.

Wissa played in two games for his country during the last international break, scoring against South Sudan and Senegal, but frustratingly picking up an injury as well.

The knee complaint has been serious enough to keep him out of action since that outing against Senegal on September 9 and he still has a while on the sidelines.
