U.S Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has emerged as a potential surprise candidate for the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee, according to CNN data analyst Harry Enten.

In a video on X , Enten explained that 12% of Democratic voters would like to see Ocasio-Cortez as the Democratic nominee in 2028.

She stands nine points behind California Governor Gavin Newsom , who is the leading pick for the 2028 nomination.
