A Plymouth bar has been named as the best in Devon by a major national awards scheme. The family-owned VOT beat strong competition to take top spot in the Muddy Stilettos Awards after a public vote.

The Stonehouse venue, previously known as the Victualling Office Tavern, finished in prime position ahead of the Amapola, in Crediton; Halulu, in Teignmouth; SQ Bar, in Braunton; and Totnes’ the Angel Bar and Kitchen. Now in its 12th year, the awards aim to shine a light on “brilliant lifestyle indies” and are seen as the most coveted honour for independent lifestyle businesses.

The 18th Century Stonehouse peninsula pub reopened in November 2022 , after being shut for four years, when it was bought by Warren and Lucy Kressinger-Dunn and given a £200,000 revamp. Managed by the couple
