BELLEVUE, Ohio (WTVG) - A city council member in Bellevue has been arrested and booked into the Huron County Jail on a slew of charges.

Joseph Burkhart, 38, of Bellevue, was booked into jail on Friday, records show. He’s charged with assault, strangulation, menacing by stalking, burglary, telecommunications harassment, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.

A report from the sheriff’s office provided few details about how the incident on Sept. 19 unfolded, but did say it happened 100 block of Sinclair Street in Bellevue.

A representative from the Huron County sheriff’s office told 13 Action News they won’t release additional documentation until the pending investigation is complete.
