CHAUVIN, La. — A 70-year-old woman is dead after her mobile home caught fire Saturday morning in Chauvin.

According to Terrebonne Parish officials, the fire happened in the 5300 block of Bayou Side Drive. Crews say the woman’s boyfriend was rushed to the hospital, but his condition is not known at this time.

The woman’s name has not been released. Officials say the home did not have working smoke alarms.

Authorities remind residents that free smoke alarms are available through local fire departments.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
