Goblins and ghouls return this October for “ Lights Out ,” the annual fright-fest at the Pomona Fairplex .

The popular Halloween event opens Oct. 3 at the Fairplex, located at 1101 W McKinley Ave.

This year, “Lights Out” features two new haunted mazes: “Jack the Ripper,” a journey into the dark depths of Victorian London, and “Underworld,” a twisting labyrinth filled with vampires and creatures of the night.

Other returning mazes include “Shadow Circus,” filled with frightening clowns, “The Institute of Fears,” staged like an asylum, and “Contagion,” where mutated patients lurk around every corner.

Expanded scare zones with hordes of roaming monsters, such as a ghoulish bride looking for her next suitor and Chuckles the clown, are also part of the spooky fun.
