Get ready for a moderately smoky day, Seattle.
Winds blowing in from the east will bring smoke from numerous wildfires raging on the eastern side of the state on Tuesday, said National Weather Service meteorologist Matthew Cullen.
The Lower Sugarloaf fire above Wenatchee is burning at more than 28,000 acres, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. The Labor Mountain Fire just to the south has burned more than 11,000 acres and the Rattlesnake Fire by Lake Roosevelt west of Spokane is at nearly 22,000 acres.
The smoke transported into the Puget Sound will have surface-level impacts, according to the Washington Smoke Blog forecast.
The air quality may be moderate or unhealthy for sensitive groups as a result, possibly reaching yellow or orange status on the air quality index, a
