A whirlwind six-month special election race will come to a close Sept. 23, with southern Arizona voters expected to pick Democrat Adelita Grijalva to succeed her father in Congress.

The election result is all but guaranteed to tighten Republicans’ majority on Capitol Hill, and to lock in another chapter of progressive representation in Congress for southern Arizona.
