From federal fiscal 2020 through 2022, Texas did not calculate and collect hospice cap overpayments, leading to $10.5 million being overpaid without returning the appropriate federal share, according to the HHS Office of the Inspector General. Hospice care covered by Medicaid is subject to annual limits. HHS is requesting the state collect the overpayments — which affected 36% of hospices that received payments — and refund the $6.9 million federal share.

HHS also recommended that Texas establish procedures to determine and gather hospice overpayments. The state concurred with this recommendation. The post Texas overpaid $10.5M to 174 hospices: HHS appeared first on Becker's Hospital Review | Healthcare News & Analysis.
