One man is behind bars after firing a shot and vandalizing cars in Effingham County near Laurel Street.

The incident occurred Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 p.m. when the Springfield Police Department received a call about shots fired at El Ximador restaurant. Security footage showed the suspect retrieving a handgun and vandalizing vehicles.

Gerardo Santos, 39, of Guyton was arrested and now faces a number of charges, including terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage to property, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and public drunkeness among others.
