ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. —

A man accused of killing a Kentucky mother and her 13-year-old daughter has killed before.

Joshua Cottrell, 44, was arrested on Friday in Paducah.

He has previously served time for a high-profile killing in 2003 that happened in Hardin County.

The most recent investigation began in Rowan County, east of Lexington, when the sheriff's office there was asked to do a welfare check in Morehead.

When they arrived, they found two victims dead inside a home: Kayla Blake, 37, and her daughter, Kennedi McWhorter.

Troopers found Cottrell that same day at a hospital nearly five hours away.

He is charged with two counts of murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence and is being housed at the McCracken County Jail on a $1 million bond.
