The Maple Leafs will be without goaltender Joseph Woll for an unknown length of time to attend to a personal family matter, says general manager Brad Treliving.

The goalie had been listed as ill the past few days but has asked for, and was granted, a personal leave of absence.

“Just for some context, this isn’t substance issue. It’s not a substance abuse issue,” Treliving told reporters at the Ford Performance Centre as the team took to the ice for their morning skate.

“It’s a personal family matter.”

Woll is still expected to share the net this season with Anthony Stolarz, although there is no timeline set for his return to the team. Dennis Hildeby has been practising with the main group, along with Stolarz.
