LUMBERTON — N.C. Rep. Jarrod Lowery, a Republican who represents most of Robeson County in the State House, will step down early next month.

Lowery announced his decision in a video posted to social media late Friday.

Lowery, who lives in Lumberton, will be accepting an undisclosed position in the Trump administration, he confirmed to The Robesonian.

“I’m going to have an opportunity to continue to serve, and just give back to the community and the nation as a whole,” Lowery said. “I’m looking forward to it. Other than being in the Marine Corps, I’ve never worked actually for the federal government, so it’ll be brand new for me and I’m looking forward to it.”

Lowery has served in the General Assembly since Jan. 1, 2023 and won reelection last year. His last day in office will be Oct. 7
