EASTERN PANHANDLE — Opioid settlement funds have been sent all over the United States to help with the opioid epidemic and solve some of the issues caused by the crisis. These funds were a result of lawsuits against opioid distributors, pharmaceutical companies and others who were found to be responsible. Throughout the Eastern Panhandle, county commissions and municipalities have been given a share the funds to support programs that are helping people impacted by these drugs.

The West Virginia First Foundation (WVFF), a nonprofit created by West Virginia Legislature, was tasked to follow the West Virginia First Memorandum of Understanding, which ensures the opioid settlement funds are used responsibly and transparently.
